Aotearoa New Zealand, a country so isolated in the southwest Pacific Ocean, that these islands were not landed upon until the Indigenous, Maori, arrived from East Polynesia nearly 800 years ago! With such isolation comes exceptionally unique and remarkable biodiversity.

Today, 28,000 species have been discovered in Aotearoa that cannot be found anywhere else on Earth! We pride ourselves on the native fauna and life of this country, and we welcome all to come and experience these beautiful whenua (lands)!

Protection of these whenua is taken very seriously; the same is expected of domestic and international travelers. Various entities/government agencies work collaboratively to ensure Aotearoa New Zealand remains healthy and protected.
